For those who might be new to my blog, I am based in the Columbia Basin of Washington state. I love using natural light to capture agriculture, flowers, and the world around me. I also do portrait and pet photography, as the occasion arises.

If I were

April 14, 2010

if i were a month i’d be november, the month of my birth and the completion of harvest,
if i were a day i’d be friday, with the weekend to contemplate,
if i were a time of day i’d be 4:30 p.m. (the end of my work day),
if i were a font i’d be dearJoe,
if i were a sea animal i’d be a dolphin, happy and carefree,
if i were a direction i’d be west, embracing the setting sun,
if i were a piece of furniture i’d be a big comfy bed,
if i were a liquid i’d be diet dr. pepper,
if i were a gemstone i’d be a sapphire, brilliant and blue
if i were a tree i’d be a birch, peeling back my layers,
if i were a tool i’d be my wet tile saw,
if i were a flower i’d be a daisy, with my face to the sun,
if i were an element of weather i’d be the warmth from the sun,
if i were a musical instrument i’d be a grand piano,
if i were a color i’d be red,
if i were an emotion i’d be serenity,
if i were a fruit i’d be a banana…no, a watermelon…no, a banana…
if i were a sound i’d be the clicking of a keyboard,
if i were an element i’d be iron, strong and durable,
if i were a car i’d be a porshe,
if i were a food i’d be chocolate…wait…i think i already am…
if i were a place i’d be the oregon coast,
if i were material i’d be silk,
if i were a taste i’d be chocolate,
if i were a scent i’d be cinnamon,
if i were a body part i’d be eyes, the better to see you with,
if i were a song i’d be lady in red,
if i were a bird i’d be an eagle, soaring high above,
if i were a gift i’d be the gift of love,
if i were a city i’d be hood river,
if i were a door i’d be open,
if i were a pair of shoes i’d be pointy toed,
if i were a poem i’d be a limerick, fun and just a little bit naughty.
