For those who might be new to my blog, I am based in the Columbia Basin of Washington state. I love using natural light to capture agriculture, flowers, and the world around me. I also do portrait and pet photography, as the occasion arises.

Life on the farm

August 22, 2009

mosaic

I had a photo session on Monday for a friend and her family, including her parents and sister’s family.  We got together at her parent’s farm just ahead of magic hour.  The sun was still a bit intense when we started out, but we quickly lost light as the sun was setting behind the hill by their home.  It was a fun shoot and the kids were so cute.   The horses were curious about what was going on and the bulls just ignored us as we dodged cow patties and electrical fences.  And mosquitoes!  A spray can of Off needs to be added to my arsenal.

I couldn’t help but process the photos and started as soon as I got home, even though my friend was more than willing to wait until after the wedding.  It’s a lot more fun to work on photos than to clean house!  I still have a long way to go – I keep finding myself working outside instead of inside.
