For those who might be new to my blog, I am based in the Columbia Basin of Washington state. I love using natural light to capture agriculture, flowers, and the world around me. I also do portrait and pet photography, as the occasion arises.

Farm tour continued

July 8, 2009

coreopsis

Other than the last two Christmas in July photos, I’ve been posting a daily dose of the organic farm tour.  Our little diva is a niece of the farmer’s wife.  You haven’t seen her big sister yet – she’s just as cute and equally photogenic.  These flowers might look a bit familiar, serving as a backdrop for little diva’s photo the other day.  This is coreopsis and part of a strip of flowers that are planted between a couple of fields.  The flowers serve to attract and host beneficial bugs that will pollinate the crops and feed on pest insects, such as aphids and mites.  The flowers were definitely attracting butterflies and the attention of farmers wondering if they would benefit from planting their own beds of flowers.  The…um…”interesting” flower from a few days ago, the Mexican Hat flower, was a part of the flower beds, as well as the dill that I posted on Saturday (fireworks).  The beds also included daisies, bachelor buttons and alyssum.

Thanks for all the suggestions yesterday on where to shop.  Some places I’d already been to, but many were new for me.  The wedding colors are chocolate, pink and light blue.  I’m looking for a chocoloate dress with a little jacket.  I think.

If I’m allowed an opinion Toni, Chocolate is a great colour and I think it would suit you.

Well, it’s all been said. I concur with everyone :) I like the blurred person in the background, too, and it’s cool that he’s wearing blue so there is a darker blue against the sky blue.

I love the colors in this – especially the bright yellow and blurred blue in the shirt! (I am distracted by color as I try to figure out what color to paint my spare room)

Toni, love this image. It reminds me of Under the Tuscan Sun movie. Oh, I am a bit behind in my comments, so I see the wedding colors….can pink be interpreted as champagne? I really like that color and think it is so celebratory! Also, try on some dresses/styles you might not necessarily think would work for you and you might be surprised… :)
