Goldilocks

June 1, 2009

gold-finch

One of the friendly gold finches that likes to hang around my back yard.  They are such happy, fun, little birds, always playing and chasing each other around the neighborhood.  This is the first year that I’ve seen them in my yard, although I probably just didn’t notice them before.  Amazing how a camera improves ones eyesight.

What a beautiful native bird to have in your yard. I bet it sings as beautiful as it looks.

The colours are wonderful especially against the blue sky. The camera certainly improves your eye sight.

I’m impressed that you were able to photograph his so nicely; ours flit off before I can focus!

And, yes — so true! Cameras DO improve our eyesight!

Hi Toni! Great shot. I think those little gold finches are so pretty. Yesterday I just noticed we have some of the red house finches visiting. Time to put out the feeders.

Sweet photo! The goldfinch pops against that blue blue sky! Put a little thistle (aka niger) in a feeder & you’ll have more of them for easy photo ops.

A fine picture of this beautiful bird. I like this one sitting on a branch which makes the shot very natural looking. I feed the finches niger seed which they seem to love. I don’t have much brush around here otherwise they wouldn’t be seen here.

isn’t it wonderful with the delightful songbirds hanging out in our yards. We have 9 nest boxes of tree swallows, two pair of barn swallows (my favourites), not to mention all the pretty little chickadees. The purple finches I believe are related to your goldfinch and though I never find their nests, they certainly do gorge at the feeders! Such a pretty photo Toni.
